BRADFORD ENTOMOLOGY GROUP

From Saturday 5th March 2011, the brand new

Bradford Entomology Group will meet at the Crossley Hall

Children's Centre in Fairweather Green, Bradford, BD8 OHJ.

In 2008, a small group of enthusiasts, with two members of Wildlife & Exotic Animal Services staff, put together a calendar of events in Dorset which would be open and free to everyone. Now, with the support of Crossley Hall Children's Centre staff, a brand new entomology group is being formed in Bradford.

Events for Bradford will include social meetings where attendees can share their knowledge of creepy-crawlies (feel free to bring one along with you), lectures by guest speakers, study groups led by experts, field trips, and visits to zoological collections.

Also, once a year, usually in May, a group outing to the British Tarantula Society's annual exhibition in Birmingham is organised. Travel is free, however there is a charge at the door. BTS members £2.50 and non-members £3.50. Accompanied children £2.50 each.

You can become a registered member of any of the Bradford Entomolgy Group. An annual membership will cost £10 and will include a quarterly newsletter with details of all events to come and planned and details of conservation projects being carried out in the UK and abroad, as well a membership card which when shown will entitle the holder to discounts at several pet stores and animal related outlets. Membership also includes free entry to the BTS exhibition when accompanied by one of the Bradford Entomology Groups 'leaders'.

So, whether you're just interested in bugs, have a collection of your own, or want to learn more about this fascinating group of animals, the Bradford Entomology Group promises to be interesting, informative, and above all, fun.

Children are welcome at all meetings and events, but in the interests of Health and Safety, they must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Some subject matter may be too advanced for youger children and special projects for those 'littluns' wanting to be involved will be arranged once the group has become established.

Each and every activity is free of charge unless stated well in advance of taking place. For example, a visit to a zoo may incur an entry fee. The group will work regularly alongside other organisations and charities. Although no money will be requested, donations are always welcomed and very much appreciated.
